Why Most Spiritual/Holistic Practitioners and Counselors Do Not Require Insurance.
Unlike Doctors, Nurses, Psychologists, etc. who may use invasive methods of which to heal by way of prescription drugs, use of needles, surgical procedures, etc. Most spiritual and holistic practices do not fall in alignment with such methods of use, as we go with eastern practices and/or non-invasive, natural methods of healing. Thus, such Holistic/Spiritual practices are safe in its use and does not require regulation of its use as is needed in your more orthodox and western medicines used today.
There are, however, exceptions to this rule. Aromatherapy, Acupuncture, Message Therapy, Reflexology, Herbalism, etc. or other alternative methods that uses what is considered “medicinal” in its nature and can be applied topically or orally or can manipulate the tissues, muscles, etc. must be insured as these methods can be known to cause side effects. As with all medicinal applications and procedures, people can react differently to treatments used. Therefore, it is of great importance for you to do your research to ensure such practitioners you are considering working with are either legally licensed or certified to be able to properly discuss, diagnose and apply such medicinal applications properly. Any misdiagnoses or unforeseen side effects of such uses can potentially open the practitioner to liability.
